About The Directorate

Bihar Agricultural College (BAC), Sabour, one of the oldest agricultural college of India, founded in 1908, had been the part of Rajendra Agricultural University (RAU), Pusa, Bihar. On 05th August 2010, College has been notified as head quarter of newly established Bihar Agricultural University (BAU). Since first year of its inception, university had produced large quantity of Nucleus, Breeder, Foundation, Certified and Truthfully labeled seed of various crops under the supervision of Directorate of Seed and Farm.

 Directorate of Seed and Farm would strive for enhancing quality seed production and minimizing post-harvest losses through intervention of modern tools and technique. To cope up the demand of seed of various agri horticultural crops, directorate is regularly taking a harmonious policy decision in coordination with various stakeholders.

Vision: 

 Ensure and enhance the availability of quality seed for sustainable agriculture development in the state

 

Mission:

 Maintenance of   quality parameters of seed for increased productivity, quality and sustainability in the state

Mandate

  1. To function as coordinator and facilitator for quality seed production at Colleges, RRS and KVKs.
  2. To promote participatory seed production.
  3. To undertake HRD through imparting training to the progressive farmers, officials of Agriculture department and State Seed Certification Agency and field staff and other agency involved in seed industry
